THE PALE MOUNTAINS
The impressive rocky formations of the Dolomites, which are often referred to as the "most-beautiful constructions of the world," will cast their spell upon you, too. That's especially true for visitors to Alta Badia, since then you're in the middle of the Dolomites and thus also in the heart of this fascinating landscape. The six villages of Alta Badia (La Villa, S.Cassiano, Badia, La Val, Corvara, and Colfosco) are surrounded by such world-famous peaks as the Sass Pütia, the Sass dla Crusc, La Varella, and the Piz La Ila.
However, the perhaps best-known sight of this marvelous region is the "Rose Garden," the petrified rose garden of King Laurin, which can be seen shimmering with a rosy glow in the evening twilight. Lovely valleys and numerous nature parks are located amongst the monumental geological formations of the Dolomites. Thus, regardless of the season, visitors can be sure of a varied and fun-filled holiday.
In the summertime, you'll be busy exploring the numerous hiking trails, mountain-bike routes, climbing trails with support cables, the fitness course, golf courses, mountain guide centers, paragliding schools, and horseback riding stables.
In the wintertime, you can traverse the 130 kilometers of well-groomed slopes of the Dolomiti Superski Ski Carousel or speed down the more than 500 kilometers of slopes of the famous Sellaronda, offering unparalleled conditions for all manner of winter sports, including snowshoe-hiking, downhill skiing, snowboarding, or cross-country skiing. Thus, young and old alike can enjoy exactly the kind of vacation they want.
