Naturally beautiful
Authentic beauty, a unique character, and variety are the hallmarks of the two nature parks adjacent to Alta Badia. Here, you can experience the pristine loveliness of Mother Nature in all Her glory. The Puez-Geisler / Puez Odles Nature Park has a charm all its own, and the Fanes Sennes Prags / Fanes Sennes Braies Nature Park is a veritable Mecca for nature-lovers from both near and far.
The Puez-Geisler / Puez Odles Nature Park encompasses an area of approx. 10,196 hectars (almost 40 square miles!) The protective zone is bordered in the north by the Würzjoch / Passo della Erbe and in the south by the Grödner Joch / Passo Gardena. In the east, it extends to the Gröden/Gardena Valley (Kampill/Longiaru, Antermoia/Untermoj) and in the west, to the Villnoesser Valley / Val di Funes and the Grödner Valley / Val Gardena. In its interior, the park is home to an unusual landscape characterized by rough, undulating terrain, fields of gray rubble, and white cliffs. It's a strange, lunar landscape in which you can wander and explore the marvels of Nature up close.
To the north, the Fanes Sennes Prags / Fanes Sennes Braies Nature Park (with an area of 25,680 hectares) is bordered by the Puster Valley / Val Pusteria. To the south, it extends along the provincial boundary. To the east, it is bordered by the Höhlenstein Valley / Val di Landro. And to the west runs the Gader Valley / Val Badia. Here, visitors will encounter a land of contrasts: When entering by one of the main entrances, they are met by steep, seemingly insurmountable cliffs. But at second glance, visitors will discover its many wondrously beautiful sights, e.g., the Green Lake (Lech Vërt), the legendary "Parliament of the Woodchucks," the peaceful, wooded slopes, and many romantic glens and dells.
